Philly Florist: Our Favorite Fall Weddings

Fall 2018 has been a time to remember at Elegant Events. We have had the opportunity to work with so many amazing couples to help create their perfect fall wedding. From pumpkins to hay stacks, each wedding was a beautiful fall creation.

  1. The Inn at Villanova (Wayne, PA): Orange, yellow and green arrangements with small pumpkin varieties filled the beautiful Inn at Villanova. We loved the ceiling drapery filled with romantic twinkling lights and the gold chargers at each setting. We also loved their “Halloween” themed candy bar for guests to enjoy!
  1. Ballroom at the Ben (Philadelphia, PA): The ballroom at the Ben was absolutely breathtaking. We loved the high vaulted ceilings, stunning chandeliers, amazing architecture and of course all of the romantic, fall inspired decor provided by yours truly.
  1. Thousand Acre Farm (Middletown, DE): What portrays a fall wedding more than haystacks, corn stalks, pumpkins and sunflowers? This wedding was absolutely the PERFECT fall wedding. We loved the beautiful ceremony space that overlooked the water and the beautiful farm style venue that created a cozy atmosphere for guests.

Looking to add some fun “fall” inspired items to your wedding? One way to do that is by creating a whole menu of fall type cocktail/beverages for your big day. Guests will get into the holiday season and will love all the unique options!

  1. Apple Cider Margarita: Grand Marnier, gold tequila, sweet apple cider, Orange Segments, apple Slices, Cinnamon, Cane sugar, Coarse sugar
  2. Caldron Punch: Rooibos tea, brewed, Captain Morgan Original Spiced Rum, Agave (or sweetener of choice), Fresh strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries
  3. Apple Cider Sangria: Pinot Grigio, apple cider, club soda, ginger brandy, honey crisp apples, pears
  4. Hot Buttered Rum: unsalted butter, light brown sugar, ground cinnamon, grated nutmeg, ground cloves, salt, vanilla, Bottle dark rum, apple cider
  5. Spiked Apple Cider Float: apple cider, cinnamon, simple syrup, apple schnapps, bourbon, vanilla ice cream
  6. Autumn Bourbon Sangria: Malbec wine, bourbon whisky, apple juice, apples, orange, plum, pear, cinnamon stick
  7. Pumpkin Spice White Russian: vodka, Bailey's, half and half, pumpkin spice syrup, honey or agave, Orange and yellow nonpareils, Cinnamon stick
  8. Apple Pumpkintini: pumpkin puree, apple cider, vanilla vodka, ginger ale, cinnamon and sugar
  9. Boozy Pumpkin White Hot Chocolate: white chocolate chips, milk, pumpkin puree, pumpkin pie spice, Kahlua or Bourbon, whipped cream and caramel
  10. Sparkling Apple Cider Sangria: apples, cognac, apple cider, cava, pomegranate seeds
  11. Cider Rum Punch: dark rum, lemon juice, thyme simple syrup, apple cider, water, club soda, Angostura Bitters, sprigs of thyme, garnish apple wheels
  12. Apple Cider Mimosa: champagne, apple cider, sugar, ground cinnamon
  13. Maple Bourbon Old-Fashioned: bourbon, maple syrup, water, dash bitters, orange peel, maraschino cherry
  14. The Harvest: cognac, cinnamon syrup, apple butter or apple syrup
  15. Pumpkin Spice Margarita: Sauza Signature Blue Reposado tequila, cream, Torani Pumpkin Spice Syrup, simple syrup, vanilla extract, cinnamon, pumpkin pie spice
  16. Pumpkin White Russian: pumpkin spice Kahlua, vodka, heavy cream, Fall-colored sprinkles / sugar
  17. Pumpkin Pie Martini: vanilla flavored vodka, Irish cream liqueur, and pumpkin flavored liqueur, a sprinkle of ground cinnamon and ground nutmeg.
  18. Long Island Apply Iced Tea: triple sec, white rum, gin, vodka, apple cider, lemon lime soda, apple slices.
  19. Apple Pie Spritzer: Granny Smith apples, cinnamon sticks, Everclear 190 Proof, filtered water, simple syrup equal parts water and sugar, Apple Pie Vodka, Apple Cider or Apple Juice, Club Soda
  20. Apple and Pumpkin Beer Cocktails: bourbon, apple cider, lemon juice, beer, cinnamon sticks and cranberries.
  21. Apple Pie Moonshine Cocktails: apple pie moonshine, apple juice, cinnamon simple syrup, and lemon juice.
  22. Candy Corn Martini: candy corn vodka, pineapple juice, ginger beer, tonic water.

Is it just us or is anyone else excited fall is around the corner? From the crisp air, pumpkin spice everything and the beautiful changing leaves, nothing gets better than fall time on the east coast! This is why today we wanted to share with you a few “fall” inspired wedding ideas to get everyone as excited as us!

  1. Fire: Since the weather is changing, add a cozy fire outside where guests can sit and enjoy while they roast marshmallows!
  2. Flowers: Sunflowers are of course the definition of a fall flower, but try adding some burgundy, orange, or more yellow tones to the mix as well.
  3. Hay Bundles: Use these for your guests seats for your ceremony or throw them outside of your reception for guests to enjoy.
  4. Flanel: Have custom flannel shirts for the bride and bridesmaids to where while getting ready. Bride can also use her shirt to where over her dress for some cute fall photos.
  5. Pumpkins: Nothing says “fall” like adding pumpkins everywhere. Whether they are fake or real, orange or white, use these to decorate your ceremony and reception.
  6. Apple Station: Have something fun like an “apple” station that will include carmel apples, apple cider drinks and donuts, etc.
  7. Blankets: Since the weather is getting cooler during the season, add some blankets outside for guests to take if they are getting chilly.
  8. Fall Leaves: Fall leaves make the perfect decor item because you can include this just about anywhere!
  9. Wedding Colors: Try colors palettes like: orange/yellow/red, burgundy/plum/brown, brown/orange/cranberry
  10. Rustic Theme: The best theme for a fall wedding would be “rustic.” This helps bring the perfect fall outdoors into your wedding.

Everyone who has planned a wedding knows that they do not come cheap. This is why every couple wants to know how they can save money and stay out of debt for their big day. So today we want to share a few tips and tricks to save money but still create the wedding of your dreams

1) Provide your own containers and candles – this will help lower the cost of your arrangements as well as lower the delivery fee because your florist won’t have to return at the end of your event to pick up these items.

2) Try to avoid the weekends before and after Valentine’s Day and Mother’s Day — The growers where your florist purchases their flowers from will end up doubling and sometimes tripling the cost during Valentine’s Day and Mother’s Day, which means these costs get passed down to you.

3) Repurpose your flower arrangements — If your ceremony is at the same venue as your reception you can get a WOW look for your ceremony by repurposing your beautiful reception flowers as ceremony aisle décor by simply asking your florist to supply pedestals for the ceremony.

4) No sweetheart or head table centerpiece is necessary — You and your partner are the centerpiece, so there is no need to pay for one. Use that beautiful crystal vase you received as a shower gift to display your bridal party bouquets surrounded by those candle holders you provided as décor.

5) Set your budget and realistic goals — Be honest with your florist about your budget. Do not tell the florist how to cut corners let the florist be creative about ways to get the most value for your wedding dollars
