- Ceremony Tips:
- a. If you’re having an outside ceremony, make sure the chairs have padding or a cover on them so guests won’t burn their bottoms when they sit down.
- b. Turning your programs into hand fans will help keep guests informed and cool.
- c. Do not start your ceremony midday when the sun is at the highest point.
- Reception Tips:
- a. If your reception is out in the grass, we recommend either providing sandals for guests or stating on the invite that guests should bring a pair of comfortable flats to the reception.
- b. If it is a hot day, make sure to provide plenty of refreshments as well as some light seasonal food options.
- c. If possible, choosing an indoor/outdoor venue is a great option for guests to go in and out
- d. Provide sunscreen and bug spray if the reception is outdoors.
- General Tips:
- a. Provide Save the Dates for your summer wedding so guests can plan their family vacations around that.
- b. Choose a summer wedding gown that is light and airy.
- c. Grooms, choose a nice airy fabric for your tuxedo/suit
- d. Prepare for summer hair. Ask your local hairstylist what hair style would be the best for your outdoor wedding (what style will actually stay in tact).
- e. Choose your flowers wisely. Some flowers tend to wilt faster than others in the heat. Ask your wedding florist what the best options are.
- f. Make sure all food items are covered if the catering tables are placed outside. This way the food doesn’t go bad from the heat plus you want to keep the bugs away.
Philly Florist: 2018 Summer Wedding Trends
Summer is around the corner and we have been seeing some beautiful wedding trends this year that we want to share with you!
Natural Centerpieces
Couples are beginning to want “natural” centerpieces (i.e. lots of greenery, moss, wood, etc.)
Living Bars
This has been the most unique of them all. Couples are choosing bars that are made from floral or greenery
Potted Plants
Place potted plants down the aisle or around the reception to add a more “garden” look to your ceremony or reception.
Colored Candles
Remember how candles were usually white or ivory? Couples are now choosing colors like light pink, baby blue, red, orange etc.
Hanging floral installations
This is one of our favorites of course. We love creating hanging floral pieces above ceremonies, guest tables or the dance floor!
Transparent Elements
Clear” is the new white. Couples are starting to use transparent items for their decor (i.e. chairs, tents, place cards, invitations, etc)
Statement Escort Displays
Finding your escort card just became a lot more fun! Couples are coming up with extravagant ways to display their placement cards
Unexpected Entertainment
Want to create a relaxed and fun atmosphere for your wedding? Try adding something like a caricature artist, green screen photo booth or celebrity impersonators.
Unexpected Entertainment
We are starting to see more wedding dresses with extravagant sleeves and we are loving every bit of it!

Philly Florist: Liberty View Open House
Wednesdays’ Nor’easter didn’t stop us from participating in The Liberty View’s Bridal Open House on Thursday, March 22nd. This event gave future couples the opportunity to see the beautifully renovated ballroom that sat on the second floor of the Independence Hall Visitor Center, as well as meet a hand full of amazing wedding vendors and newly engaged couples.
For the Bridal Open House, we were grateful enough to be asked to provide the floral and decor for the event. Our floral arrangements were primarily greens with touches of white and purples, which went perfectly with the beautifully renovated ballroom. Some of our favorite things we did was line the circular chandeliers with greenery as well the tent walls.
For pictures of the event, see below.
