Love is Not Quarantined

At Elegant Events, we pride ourselves on knowing the importance of “marriage.” We know and understand that getting married is so much more than having a grand, over the top wedding. Of course, there is nothing wrong with having that princess wedding you have dreamed, but we also like to remind our couples of the true meaning of why they have decided to get married.

With everything happening in the world today, weddings have gotten cancelled or postponed left and right. This has been a hardship for so many, including a handful of our own couples. This is why we have taken this time to connect our couples and help them remember why they fell in love with the other and what made them decide that they want to spend the rest of their life with that person. We want to assure every couple that no matter what challenges life bring us, they need to always remember they are in it together.

Marriage isn’t “I promise to love you until I stop loving you.” It’s “I promise to make a conscious decision to continue to love you even when its hard because im aware no one is perfect, but you are worth it” -Brandalin

So whether you decide to get married with 500 guests or if you decide to have a wedding with just your immediate family, we are here to remind you that no matter what, where or how many people are there, the most important thing is you get to be with your soulmate and best friend for the rest of your life.

At Elegant Events we pride ourselves by putting the same amount of heart and soul into any type of wedding. Whether it’s a party of 500 or a party of 6, we will embrace the value of marriage and provide the same level of detail for any wedding.

A beautiful example of not letting this world get in the way of them getting married is a beautiful couple we had the pleasure of working with on June 29th 2020.

After getting engaged in January 2018, Pamela and Justin decided to take the leap and get married on June 29th 2020. However, this wasn’t one of our normal weddings we are used to doing. We had the privilege and honor of designing their flowers for their “minimony.” What’s a minimony you ask? A minimony is a wedding celebration they decided to have with just themselves and their parents. They decided to not let COVID-19 ruin their time to get married and start the beginning of the rest of their lives. It was a beautiful and perfect wedding.

Pamela and Justin decided to have their ceremony at The Philadelphia Wedding Chapel at Sherman Mills. The wonderful Stacey Thomas (owner of the wedding chapel for 9 years and apart of the wedding industry for 17 years) had the privilege of marrying the couple.

We were able to create a beautiful bridal bouquet, floral crown and groom boutonnière made of pink and ivory roses.The flowers complimented the beautiful couple perfectly

(COVID-19) A Message From Our Creative Director

To our valued Customers,

As the COVID-19 pandemic spreads, the world around us is changing; our commitment to you has not changed.

First and most importantly, your safety, as well as our customers and employees is our top priority. We ask that you please make sure you are following CDC guidelines as well as the guidelines outlined by your state and local governments.

Also, I fully appreciate the uncertainty, anxiety, and questions some of you may have regarding how your events might be impacted. Please know we are working around the clock to keep our commitment to you and providing rebooking flexibility.

Flexibility If You Need to Adjust Your Event Plans

With the unprecedented cancellations of events and the issuing of travel restrictions, we understand your event plans may change. Therefore, we have made additional changes to our already very flexible policies.

If you decide to reschedule your event, we ask that you notify us three weeks prior to your event is scheduled. If you cancel at least three weeks prior, 100% of your funds will be transferred to your new date (must be before 12/31/2021). We will also honor the prices we agreed on upon your initial booking with us.

We are aggressively managing our business so that we can continue to deliver the service you expect from Elegant Events.

So on behalf of the entire Elegant Events Family, I want to thank you for your loyalty, trust, and understanding. Our Hearts go out to all those impacted by this pandemic.

Canceling Your Wedding Due to Covid-19

There are plenty of things brides and grooms think about going wrong when it comes to their big day, bad weather, getting sick, funerals, etc. However, i’m sure couples have never thought about the possibility of a worldwide pandemic happening.

Covid-19 aka coronavirus has unfortunately forced many brides and grooms to cancel their big day. As of March 15th, 2020 the CDC recommended postponing weddings to help prevent the spread of this virus. They have recommended to postpone for AT LEAST 8 weeks, if not more (to read more, head to the CDC website).

Keep in mind a few items when trying to determine whether or not to cancel your wedding:

How many guests will be traveling to your wedding? Plenty of flights are being grounded and cancelled due to the virus.
Do you have a handful of elderly people attending your wedding: 60+ year olds are at high risk for getting the virus, therefore should not be around others who potentially could carry the disease.
How many guests are attending? The White House has discouraged any social gatherings of 10 or more between the time frame of March 17th – April 1st and could possibly carry on longer.

Alternative options:

You can have a micro wedding ceremony where you and your significant other gets married, and then reschedule the reception for later
You can elope! Forget the big wedding and just elope on your original wedding date.
You can postpone. Still plan on having the wedding of your dreams but schedule for a date that is in the clear.

Here are a couple of of tips and suggestions for postponing your wedding:

Be prepared & informed. Keep up on the news to get an idea of when this all might settle down or resolve. Make sure to keep track of not only the news but the CDC guidelines as well.
If you haven’t already, hire a wedding planner! They will help you organize, navigate and keep your sanity when trying to plan your big day around a pandemic.
Speak to your vendors: Keep an ongoing and open conversation with your vendors. Ask them for advise or possible solutions to postponing and planning your wedding. You will also want to talk to your vendors right away about their policy for canceling or postponing events.
Update your guests: Your guests should not be surprised when letting them know your big day needs to be postponed. However, make sure you contact every invited guest to let them know what is going on and keep them informed on when it might be rescheduled for. You can even send out “unsave the date” cards to let them know the event is postponed. You can also simply text, call or email your guests. I would even let those traveling know about the current flexible flight and travel policies to ensure they will not lose any money on their already purchased tickets.
Hold off on any major decisions: Do not make any major decisions until you are sure. This way you won’t lose any more money, time or effort. You also want to make sure you don’t end up confusing your guests with several dates, times, places, etc.

Philly Florist: 2020 Wedding Trends

As spring is quickly approaching, we are finalizing details with our spring and summer brides. Between planning with our brides and reading all the wedding blogs, we are learning and experiencing some exciting and new wedding trends. See a list below of some things to expect in the year 2020 with upcoming weddings.

Quality Over Quantity: One big trend we are seeing are couples opting for a smaller wedding (50 or less people), but using that extra money they would have spent on other guests to enhance their wedding for each guest even more. This means more detail on the food, drink, entertainment and decor.
Spiritual Vibes: Couples are now including a spiritual vibe to their big day (i.e. crystals, sage, aura photo booths, etc).
Specialized Menus: Couples are being more sympathetic to those guests who have dietary needs. They are now catering to everyone, even if that means needing to add several other additional menu items.
Barrettes & Headbands: Brides have strayed from the tiaras and are now wearing decorative barrettes or headbands.
Saving the Planet: Couples are now more environmentally cautious than ever. They include recycled decor and using plants rather than cut flowers. For example they are using potted plants or nurseries for their centerpieces/decor.
Food Conveyor Belt: Add a conveyor belt for your hors d'oeuvres to add that extra “wow,” touch to your wedding.
Bold Colors: Say goodbye to the black and white weddings and welcome the bold color palettes brides are loving.
Custom Fabric: Customize your aisle runner, table cloths, napkins, etc with your name, wedding date, monogram, etc.
Pantsuits for Bridesmaids: Bridesmaids are now starting to wear pant suits or tuxedos instead of the traditional dresses.
Colorful Groom Attire: Groom’s are straying from the traditional black jacket and are wearing bolder colors (blue, maroon, green, etc) and fabric (velvet).
Self Serve Refreshments: Guests no longer have to wait around for a bartender to fill their drinks. Couples are including a self serve refreshment bar in their wedding.
Charities: Couples are encouraging guests to help donate to a charity that is near and dear to their hearts.
Art: Incorporate art pieces from your favorite artists on the walls or tables for your decor.

Spray Painted Floral Stems: No need to wrap those stems in some ribbon. Instead have them showing after your florist spray paints them to a color of your choosing.
