2019 was yet another great year for Elegant Events Florist. We were able to work with so many great couples that both challenged and enhanced our floral and design skills. Check out just a few of our favorite weddings of 2019!

Preeti & Jerry

Preeti and Jerry were married on April 20 th 2019. This couple came from two different backgrounds (Chinese and Indian heritage), so they incorporated both in their wedding celebrations. It was such a pleasure being able to incorporate floral and design aspects from both cultures.

Shakira & Raymond

Shakira and Raymond were married on September 14 th 2019 at The Cira Centre in Philadelphia PA. They had a beautiful wedding that had stunning views of center city. We loved creating their elegant and beautiful black, gold and white wedding.

Duane & Michael

Duane and Michael were married on June 28th 2019 at the Abele Library in the Le Meridien in Philadelphia, PA where their reception followed in the ballroom. We loved their unique room setup that consisted of gold, silver and black floral and décor.

Philly Florist: Preeti & Jerri

Preeti and Jerri were married on April 20th, 2019. This beautiful couple came from two backgrounds, Preeti (Chinese descent) and Jerri (Indian descent), which is why they chose to incorporate celebrations from each culture into their wedding.

Baraat (Indian Wedding Tradition)

The Baraat is where Jerri traveled to the wedding venue on a white horse, where his family accompanied him, celebrating what was about to come.

Ganesha Puja (Indian Wedding Tradition)

Preeti and Jerri had a traditional “Ganesha Puja” ceremony that involved both the him and Preeti's family. Before the ceremony, Jerri took his seat under the mandap after the baraat. Before the ceremony officially began, the Priest invokes Lord Ganesh (the Hindu Elephant God) to remove all obstacles, before the nuptials took place. The ceremony was then performed for good luck on the couple and their families.

Chinese Tea Ceremony

Preeti and Jerri had a traditional tea ceremony where the bride and groom were formally introduced to their guests. They served tea to the Jerri's family after the exchanged their vows.

The Reception:

The reception was like a typical reception that takes place in the United States. There was food, cake cutting, dancing, flowers, linens, and much more. See below some of our favorite details of each.

Linens: All guest tables had grey floor length linens with a navy overlay (the sweetheart table was a grey floor length linen). Each table had ivory napkins with it’s appropriate silverware and glassware.
Centerpieces: Centerpieces consisted of a variety of high and low arrangements. The high centerpieces were a long glass vase, that either had white calla lilies and blue hydrangeas or blue orchids and blue hydrangeas. The smaller centerpieces were in a short glass vase with blue roses and hydrangeas. Each table also had tea light candles to surround the floral centerpieces.
Cake: Preeti and Jerri’s cake was absolutely amazing. From one side it was a beautiful red and white cherry blossom design, and on the other side each layer had a different design that held specific meanings to the couple (more so inside jokes).
Food: The hors d'oeuvres tables were set up beautifully! Everything was made for presentation AND taste. Not to mention the carved watermelon was so unique and incredibly done.

Overall Preeti and Jerri’s wedding was a perfect combination of their cultures. They were able to incorporate everything that was important to them and their families, and it turned out to be the perfect wedding celebration.

Philly Florist: Wedding Ceremony Decor

Whether you’re getting married in a church, at a venue or outdoors, figuring out decor to perfectly accent the bride and groom gets tricky. When finding decor you want to make sure you aren’t going over the top or aren’t clashing your decor with the venue decor. Today we want to discuss a few different decor options you can include to make sure your ceremony looks absolutely perfect.

Church Ceremony

Most church buildings tend to be beautiful on it’s own so a lot of times you don’t need too much additional decor for the ceremony. Afterall, you don’t want to overdo it and take attention away from the bride and groom.

Some things we recommend include:

Candles or lanterns down the aisle.
Floral arrangements that are hung on the ends of the pews.
Drapery hung down the aisle on the ends or the pews.
Rose petals down the aisle.
Two tall floral arrangements on the sides of the lovely couple.

Venue Ceremony

A lot of venues are already decorated with their own items (i.e. chandeliers, drapery, aisle runners, etc). If this is the case, then just simply adding small items here and there will help create the perfect atmosphere to say “I Do!”

Some other items you could include are:

Aisle runners add an extra touch to the bridal party and bride walking down the aisle.
Candles create a romantic touch as they are placed on the sides of the aisles.
Floral arrangements either on the chairs or on the floor down the aisle are also perfect accents.
Adding sashes to the chairs add texture and extra color to the ceremony.
Adding a floral arch, large floral arrangements for a beautiful draped backdrop will provide the perfect backdrop for photos for the bride and groom.

Outdoor Ceremony

The outdoors are wonderful because there is no limit to what size decor you are able to use because you have a wide open space. You can even have items outside that you would never have inside a venue (trees, lakes/ocean, having your pets walk down the aisle with you, etc).

Some other items you could include are:

Aisle runners (especially if it’s on grass) to help make it easier to walk on and help add an extra touch for the ceremony.
You can add larger decor items outside since you have more space (i.e large haystacks, trees, gazebo, large floral arches, etc).
Adding sashes to the chairs bring more color and texture.
Add decor down the aisle (lanterns, pumpkins, flowers, etc).

Philly Florist: Shakira & Raymond

Shakira and Raymond were married on September 14th, 2019 at The Cira Centre in Philadelphia, PA. The floral and design was done by yours truly, at Elegant Events.

Ceremony:
The ceremony was held inside The Cira Centre ballroom. It consisted of beautiful white drapery that surrounded the room, while brown chiavari chairs with black cushions perfectly lined the ceremony. For the ceremony decor, white pedestals topped with green and ivory floral arrangements were placed down the aisle, along with clusters of clear vases with floating candles.

Reception:
The reception also took place in the ballroom of The Cira Centre in Philadelphia. Beautiful white drapery lined the walls while round and square tables filled the room. The head table was perfectly placed in front of a large window, that overlooked the city of Philadelphia. Each round table had black checkered linens, black napkins, a dinner menu and a chocolate favor at each setting. The centerpieces were tall and medium height floral arrangements (alternating at each table). Gold and glass tea light candles surrounded each centerpiece to give it more of a romantic feel.

The "reserved" tables, which were for immediate family members were the rectangle tables that were placed on the sides of the head table. These tables consisted of white tablecloths, white napkins, dinner menus, a chocolate favor at each setting, and a long beautiful floral runner down the middle.

The head table was a long, rectangular table with white linens, white napkins, gold goblets and a floral runner down the middle. To spice up the head table even more, a large round floral arch sat in the background to compliment the bride and groom. This was absolutely stunning with the large window behind the table that overlooked the beautiful city of Philadelphia.

The dance floor was also a favorite of ours. It was a black and white square dance floor that sat in the middle of the room. Let’s just say the wedding guests definitely took advantage of the dance floor at the end of the night!

The wedding cake was a beautiful four tiered cake that sat off to the side of the head table. A gold and ivory cake with roses and hydrangeas, was a beautiful focal point of the reception.
